Geriatric Psychiatric
Lighthouse Care Center of Conway has a secure acute geriatric psychiatric unit for adults ages 55 and over with a severe change in their mental condition that makes them an immediate danger to themselves or others.
The focus of this program is to quickly assess the medical and behavioral needs of each patient and guide them to healthier, more effective coping strategies.
Severe mental status changes can occur after losing a spouse, family member and/or friend. The coinciding life changes can easily overwhelm a person and may result in depression and anxiety or mood disorders. The goals of Lighthouse's geriatric psychiatric program are to stabilize the patient's condition and provide them with the resources they need to cope.
