Adolescent Residential Treatment Facility
The residential treatment facility program at Lighthouse is a 16-bed, medical-model-based program for adolescents ages 12-17. It adheres to a holistic approach of treatment addressing all aspects of the human experience, including biological, psychological, social, and spiritual components.
Lighthouse recognizes that each resident exhibits varying degrees of impulse control and has different skill levels based on the socio-economic background and level of cognitive functioning. These differences require that each resident be given individual freedoms that allow positive interaction, the opportunity to try out new behaviors, improve self-confidence, and demonstrate internal self controls.
With this philosophy in mind, a system of privilege levels has been designed for the purpose of providing residents with a uniform structure. Residents can progress from a highly structured environment to a relatively independent environment while remaining in a residential treatment setting. As the resident progressively exhibits trustworthy and socialized behavior, he or she is granted increased freedom and responsibility.
This program provides multi-disciplinary assessments, rapid stabilization, case management, and effective self-management skills. Our program assists the family in beginning to learn how to deal with the psychiatric and behavioral problems which may have led to placement, and prepares the patient and family for the realities of discharge and continuing recovery in aftercare.
