Acute Adult Psychiatric Program

Lighthouse Conway building facadeThe focus of the adult psychiatric program is to quickly assess the medical and behavioral needs of each patient and guide the individual to healthier, more effective coping strategies.

Our caring psychiatric team knows that most mental illness is caused by a chemical imbalance and can be treated with solution-focused counseling and medication. We also understand that difficult life events can trigger destructive and painful patterns of thinking and behavior.

Our acute adult inpatient treatment involves psychiatric nursing supervision and ongoing assessments 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our therapeutic setting is capable of sustaining patients who require substantial support to deal with their symptoms and situation.

All of our acute units provide crisis management, psychiatric evaluation, and treatment for acute and severe psychiatric conditions, both voluntary and involuntary clients. The programs focus on brief, intensive psychiatric hospitalization for those suffering from severe emotional crisis.

All aspects of the programs are overseen by a physician and provide multi-disciplinary assessments, rapid stabilization, case management, and teaching of effective self-management skills.

Our programs assist the family in beginning to learn how to deal with psychiatric and behavioral problems which may have led to hospitalization/ placement, and prepare the patient and his or her family for the realities of discharge and continuing recovery in aftercare. A strong emphasis on education about the medications and possible side effects will be covered as part of the treatment and discharge process.

The average length of stay is five to 10 days, but this can vary according to the needs of the patient.

Lighthouse Care Center's dual diagnosis program is designed for the treatment of individuals who meet the above criteria and require medically supervised inpatient treatment. The program's inpatient unit provides both psychiatric and addiction treatment, as well as detoxification for alcohol and opiates.
